I couldn't resist sharing this-
I was driving home in the sunshine this afternoon, looked up and...
saw this little bird perching on the telegraph wire!
It's definitely the first swallow of the year. Has anybody else seen one yet?
He was all by himself but I'm sure he will soon be joined by others.
I love their wonderful swooping flight and cheerful chattering.
Summer is on its way, Hooray!

I've seen my first two today! Not lucky enough to photo, though!
ReplyDeleteI nearly crashed the car getting off the road to take the photos! Jane xx
DeleteI did a rather dangerous swerve in the car to pull into a lay-by and catch this one- I feel so happy!
ReplyDeleteJudging by the weather we've had today he's timed his arrival perfectly; it really feels like spring now.
ReplyDeleteSwallows are just so beautiful. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful weekend. Diane
ReplyDeleteHaven't seen one yet but should be any day now. Beautiful birds.
ReplyDeleteHello Jane:
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful image. And what promise it suggests!
Jรณ hรฉtvรฉgรฉt!
I don't think I have seen one yet, but in Italy they came back two weeks ago. My sister had been really worried, because the swallows had not come back, then, one morning she phoned:"They're here, they're back!" There are so many over there, you wouldn't believe it!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful creatures they are! I like watching them fly and hearing them, as they fly, also above cities and traffic.
Yes, Jane, Spring is here, but I feel cold, tonight!
CIAO!

I can't believe it ! Even though it's chilly in Yorkshire I'm keeping an eye on the skies for my first.
ReplyDeleteso lovely to meet you in real life yesterday!

Wow that's wonderful Jane! I haven't seen any swallows or swifts here yet. We often get a number of swifts near us, and I'm so looking forward to their return :)
ReplyDeleteA very late reply to everybody- it's now a Happy Easter to you all, sorry for not replying individually- life got even more hectic than usual! Jane xxx
ReplyDeleteSadly no swallows - they are the most uplifting sight I think. I hope 'mine' will be returning soon but the bird count is very down this year.
ReplyDeleteI hope that all is well
Best wishes
Jenny
