One swallow makes my day!

I couldn't resist sharing this-
I was driving home in the sunshine this afternoon, looked up and...

saw this little bird perching on the telegraph wire!
It's definitely the first swallow of the year.  Has anybody else seen one yet?
He was all by himself but I'm sure he will soon be joined by others.
I love their wonderful swooping flight and cheerful chattering.
Summer is on its way, Hooray!

  2. I did a rather dangerous swerve in the car to pull into a lay-by and catch this one- I feel so happy!

  3. Judging by the weather we've had today he's timed his arrival perfectly; it really feels like spring now.

  7. I don't think I have seen one yet, but in Italy they came back two weeks ago. My sister had been really worried, because the swallows had not come back, then, one morning she phoned:"They're here, they're back!" There are so many over there, you wouldn't believe it!

What beautiful creatures they are! I like watching them fly and hearing them, as they fly, also above cities and traffic.

Yes, Jane, Spring is here, but I feel cold, tonight!

  10. Wow that's wonderful Jane! I haven't seen any swallows or swifts here yet. We often get a number of swifts near us, and I'm so looking forward to their return :)

  12. Sadly no swallows - they are the most uplifting sight I think. I hope 'mine' will be returning soon but the bird count is very down this year.

I hope that all is well
    Best wishes
    Jenny
