In the South West of England Spring comes early. We may have cold days, rainy days and blustery days ahead but looking around me I can see that the unstoppable forward force of Spring is in motion.
The first butterflies and Ladybirds have ventured out and the birds are daily revving up towards their full-blown Spring morning chorus.
In the past country people would use Pussy Willows in place of palms on Palm Sunday, so I have decorated a wreath to go on my door. The full blown, fuzzy, pollen tufted blossoms are yet to arrive but it still looks pretty, with a mixture of different trees' catkins adding some extra colour.
Have a happy week everybody!

I like your pussywillow wreath and your early spring flowers. Happy Spring and have a blessed Easter. You mention old, rare or interesting books, I do love them too. Thus my career as a librarian cataloging old and rare items.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great career, I used to catalogue books when I worked in an Antiquarian bookshop and goodness, it was hard work: sometimes so dull, sometimes fascinating! Happy Easter
DeleteIn the much colder East of England, the butterflies have yet to materialise. Soon, I hope.
ReplyDeleteMay butterflies soon surround you! I've only seen a couple of Brimstones so far. Happy Easter
DeleteHello Jane,
ReplyDeleteYour spring is a bit earlier than here in Youghal. Love your wreath of pussy willow. How unusual.
Thanks for the good wishes for this week and I send them back to you.

Thank you Helen, I hope you are enjoying the Easter celebrations
DeleteSpring is in full force here on Vancouver Island. Blossoms and perfume all over. When we lived in Germany Palm Sunday meant cedar branches. Out here it's palm fronds. I hadn't heard of pussy willow but I think it's a lovely idea.
ReplyDeleteI was intrigued to read about it. In the past pussy willow was actually called palms because of this tradition. Happy Easter.
DeleteI enjoyed your post and your past posts and learned two new terms – pop-up wedding and Independent Celebrant (English is not my native language though.) Our daughter will get married next summer and has not planned for it much, but it will take place close to San Diego, California. As for books – I need to sort through all of them and give most of them away. We have been in this house 40 years (and will move soon)and we buy books weekly – so there are loads of them in every room. It is a difficult task as I hate to part with my books.
ReplyDeleteThank you, I'm glad you have enjoyed my posts and sending all good wishes and congratulations to your daughter. Happy Easter
