Walking into Spring

I have so many memories and photographs from my holiday that I felt daunted trying to condense my thoughts and images. So you are spared the full  'sit down and let me show you my holiday photos' and
I will share only a few happy moments.

The wonderful feeling of homecoming on my first walk around the golden streets of Lucca.

Discovering that we had flown into Spring!

And my enjoyment of my bunch of Mimosa

Finding Florence sunny and quiet and having the time to look at the details.

Sharing truly Tuscan feasts

Being energetic enough to climb the famous tree topped tower and see the city spread out beneath us.

Looking through courtyard gates to hidden gardens

Watching Sam's growing brilliance and maturity as he takes his amazing photographs

Our joy when the rain cleared away and the sun unexpectedly returned on our last day

And above all, for being with my boy and that he was happy spend this magical week with me.

ps. All these photographs are mine. Sam's are much, much better. In fact, I may try and 'borrow' a few to post them and show you all...

    1. We fell into such a happy companionable routine. Each wandering off alone to be 'arty' and then returning to share meals together. Jane xx

    1. Hello Jenny. It was, indeed a golden week. This was my 4th visit to Lucca and I love it more each time! Both my children love it too and poor Emily was sad not to be joining us ( she's just off to Canada!). Jane xx

  4. It must have not only been a wonderful place to go, but to have the joy of spring PLUS the time spent with your son. I'm so glad you had such a lovely time. All the photos are beautiful but the most beautiful is the two of you. Diane

    1. Thank you Diane. I wondered if I could afford to go but realised the chance of spending a loving and happy week with my growing son was not to be missed. The last is my favourite too and due to be added to our family photograph wall. Jane xx

  5. Hello Jane,

How beautifully these pictures capture the warmth of the Tuscan sun and the beauty that is to be found in this area. We love Lucca and that image brought back happy memories for us of exploring the town on foot, gazing at the wonderfully sun bleached architecture and eating the most delicious of foods.

Florence we have yet to visit. Indeed, Easter will be our first foray there to a friend who works in the Opera House. So, you have really piqued our interest and now we cannot wait to be there. And, such intriguing angles and views you have given of this most beautiful city. Clearly, there is an artistic eye at work here.

And, to finish off, a celebratory glass of Prosecco.......fabulous. Cheers!

    1. Hello Jane and Lance, how good to hear from you again. We discovered Lucca many years ago and have loved and returned to it whenever we can. It is a perfect haven. I await to see the results of many of Sam's photos ( all these are mine, so thank you for the complement), as he uses film and is in the process of developing it himself.
I hope you have a wonderful visit to Florence and think of us when you have your first glass of Prosecco! Jane xx

  6. Tuscany ... my favourite place! We shall be back there in July, staying in a tiny hamlet in Bagni di Lucca. My ten year old loves it too ... I really hope that when he is older he will be happy to enjoy a similar companiable holiday with me as yours with your son. What a precious time together.

    1. How lovely for you. We have visited Bagni di Lucca a couple of times and tried the wonderful thermal baths. I'm sure your son will enjoy holidays in the future with you. I feel it is important to try to find a common interest as two adults (photography), so that you have something to share and enjoy once the 'looking after' phase of Motherhood has passed - not that it ever really does! 1. It was such a treat to spend some quiet time together. As a family we discovered Lucca about 10 years ago, each time we return I love it more! Jane xx

  8. It all looks wonderful and I can't wait to visit. Spring must be a good time to be in Italy, before the heat and the crowds. Glad you both had a wonderful holiday and that your son shared it with you.

    1. Italy was so lovely and it was hard to tear myself away. There was an avenue of Magnolia trees just beginning to burst into bloom, I wanted to see them all flowering! Jane xx
